The evening
No New Year celebration seems complete without the sumptuous waltzes and effervescent marches and polkas of the Strauss family.
But the beautiful blue Danube flows from Vienna to Budapest, only 180 miles away by river, and Brahms’s Hungarian Dances are evocative, swirling melodies in the folk-infused style common to countless café bands in that great city. Annemarie Federle was appointed LPO Principal Horn in 2023, aged only twenty. She is the soloist in Mozart’s last, and most popular horn concerto.
This concert is made possible by a Circle of Supporters.
